The first meetings were dedicated to getting to know the members of the group, by sharing thoughts, concerns and feelings. Then, brainstorming meetings were held. These meeting brought out the students' need to talk about the issues that concern them during adolescence. They compiled a questionnaire on adolescent issues and conducted a survey among the 300 students of our school. In the podcast, they present both the process of conceiving the script and the results of the survey together with their own thoughts on them.

Good evening! We are the radio group of (school name with beep) and today we will have a discussion.
When our teacher in charge announced to us that this year the topic for the competition is free, we were initially happy, because we thought that we could finally talk about something that expresses us.
But then we realized how difficult it is to create something spontaneous, interesting but mainly our own ...
Violence, war, climatic change, discrimination and many other issues, which came to our attention at the beginning, certainly affect our daily lives and our lives in general.  They are often mentioned but nothing ever changes ...
That's why we decided to talk about what scares us, what bothers us... and what makes us happy.
So we organized a poll asking children from all grades of our school about issues that we believe concern the average teenager.
First, we investigated whether children consider their daily lives to be too stressful or not, and the result was what we expected. More than half of the students do not have enough free time to do what they enjoy. This of course, it makes sense, since most focus on fulfilling the demands of the family environment despite their own desires. That is, 7 hours of school, 3 hours of tutoring, plus studying for the next day's lessons. How can we have time for ourselves? How can we not feel stressed? In fact, according to research, excessive pressure leads to problems with sleep, nutrition, and a bad mood in general.
On the other hand, it is pleasing that 85% of the students at our school find time to meet with classmates and friends in person, outside of school, at least once a week. A teenager needs something like this to find a way out of the pressure. After all, we can't be indoors all day, because that's not healthy. If we don't spend time with friends now, when will do it?
However, friends are not the only support we need at this stage of our lives. Family also plays an important role. And that's why we wanted to find what kind of relationship our classmates have with their parents. So we asked if they feel distant from them and the truth is that the results surprised us. 4 out of 5 students said that they are not distant from their parents. Of course, we must emphasize that we asked children from all grades of high school, so it is logical that a 12-year-old child and a 15-year-old teenager would not have the same relationship with their parents.
So far we have talked about relationships with friends and parents. But we spend more than half of our day at school. What happens there? That is why we asked our classmates if they have ever felt insecure in the school environment and especially in the relationship they have with their classmates and teachers. The answers we received are divided, with a small majority stating that they have never felt insecure in the school environment. This is encouraging, because it is very important to feel safe at school, to be able to express yourself freely without fear of receiving malicious criticism and ridicule. This leads us to think that perhaps bullying is slowly starting to decrease, contrary to what we hear.
This is confirmed by the positive answer of our classmates to the question whether they feel good about themselves. However, 1/4 states that they do not have self-confidence.
- Okay. It's not that tragic. Adolescence is a period of the greatest insecurities ...
- Yes. But if now that our character is formed, we don't practice believing in ourselves. it's a lost cause.
- How do you practice something like that?
- It's not easy. It depends on a lot of factors and it takes some effort.
- However, I didn't expect the majority of students to feel good about themselves. I have met many people who had to change something to become more popular.
- Exactly. We asked our classmates the same thing and almost half of them answered that they have changed to integrate into a group.
- Peer acceptance is very important for the average teenager. A lot of them may change the way they dress, speak and behave.
- For many years, I had self-confidence problems and many insecurities. I always felt disadvantaged and couldn't handle even the simplest situation.
- I understand you. Me too.
- I, on the other hand, am quite comfortable. I've gotten over that.
- It's good not to be held back by insecurities and to have as much self-confidence as you can.
- Do your best, brother ...
We also asked our classmates if they feel confident about the future. 55% answered positively, which is very pleasing. However, we cannot ignore the remaining 45% who answered no.
In adolescence we are called upon to decide what we will do for the rest of our lives although we are not mature enough yet. This fact causes us great anxiety, because it is not possible since we have not fully developed our character, to make a decision that will affect our entire life.
- Yes, that's right. But in all respects, we can't feel confident about the future.
- Why?
- Because there is no career guidance course in high school, which leaves many children confused. Studies, first and then the profession, are a big part of every person's life, and we as students walk blindly, without any help or guidance.
- And of course, it's not necessary for someone to study to be happy. Plus, there's the perception that the Panhellenic Exams are the end of the world, which makes us anxious ...
- You're right... On the other hand, we hear a lot of things every day. There are many things that a teenager today has to deal with. Like, for example, the fact that children my age, in other countries around the world, suffer from hunger, poverty, violence, and so much more.
Every day we hear on the news and read in the media about teenagers who are violent and behave delinquently. But it is unfair to focus only on the negative, since most of us try so hard, are creative and aware.
